"I have arrested him on probable cause," says prosecutor Anna Johansson Toresten.
It was around noon on Thursday that police were called to an address in Karlskrona. A woman in her 50s was found badly stabbed outdoors. She was taken to hospital by ambulance, but her life could not be saved.
A man was arrested at the scene and taken into custody later that evening. According to the prosecutor, the man and the woman had "some form of connection" to each other.
"I can't say more than that right now," says Johansson Toresten.
Interviews will be held with the man, who is in his 40s, later on Friday.
It is unclear how he feels about the criminal suspicion.
