It was last October that a man was shot dead and another injured at a school in the Brynäs district of Gävle. A 24-year-old man who was suspected of murder and attempted murder has now been acquitted of the charges.
A 19-year-old man who was charged with accessory to murder was also acquitted.
After the shooting, the 24-year-old's DNA was found on one of the murder weapons, but according to the verdict, he must have "actual control over the weapon" for the evidence to be strong enough.
The prosecutor sought life imprisonment for the 24-year-old and ten years in prison for the 19-year-old.
According to the police, the 24-year-old has connections to the gang environment and was acquitted of a murder in 2021. Since then, he has also served time in prison for robbery.
