A healthcare employee who was charged with raping a female patient at Akademiska Hospital in Uppsala is acquitted by the district court, local media reports.

The man was charged with two counts of rape. The assaults allegedly took place in December 2021.

He was released on bail last week pending the verdict.

According to the district court, much suggests that the woman was subjected to assault at the hospital, but there is not sufficient evidence to prove that the man was the perpetrator. For example, he was not on duty on the dates when the assaults allegedly took place.
