Mamdani hits back at Netanyahu over UN speech, calls remarks lies

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani is hitting back at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who described Mamdani as anti-Semitic in his speech to the United Nations General Assembly.

"Netanyahu used his speech to repeat baseless lies in order to whitewash the genocide of Palestinians," Mamdani said in a statement.

“No lies can change the fact that he remains the subject of an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity,” he said.

Many delegates left the hall before Netanyahu's speech at the UN on Thursday.

"To all those who spread lies about my country and our brave soldiers, whether you are sitting in this room or in the office of the anti-Semitic New York mayor, I just say: shame on you!" he said.

He also claimed that many Jews in New York do not feel safe after Mamdani's inauguration.
