It was a 1-2 loss for Malmö FF in the team's last Europa League match this season.

It was already clear that Malmö would not advance from the group stage of the Europa League before their away match against Genk.

Nevertheless, the Swedish team took the lead in the fourth minute, when Taha Ali showed his skill and made it 1–0.

But Genk equalized from a penalty before 18-year-old Konstantinos Karetsas scored the winner to make it 2–1.

Oscar Lewicki announced earlier in January that he would retire when his contract with MFF expires at the end of the month. In his last match he played just over fifteen minutes after coming on for 19-year-old Malte Pålsson.

The loss means that Malmö ends up with one point in the table - after zero wins, one draw (Dinamo Zagreb at home) and seven losses.

Meanwhile, Swedish Benjamin Nygren scored in Celtic's 4-2 victory over Dutch side Utrecht.
