Linus Öberg gave the home team the lead just past the halfway point of the first period, but 13 minutes into the second period, Mikael Aagard was able to equalize for Skellefteå.
With 31 seconds left to play in the period, Jonathan Pudas thundered a heavy shot to make it 2–1 past Malmö goalie Oskar Blomgren.
Pontus Johansson extended the lead to 3–1 at 13:38 of the third period. Although Fredrik Händemark was able to reduce the deficit for Malmö in the final stages, Skellefteå's Rickard Hugg sealed the away team's 4–2 victory into an empty net after the team from Skåne pulled their goalkeeper.
With a 3-0 lead in matches, Skellefteå can secure a semifinal spot on Sunday - that match will also be played in Malmö.
