Malmö FF's attacking star Erik Botheim's lower leg injury is worse than feared. The Norwegian will be out for the rest of the Allsvenskan football season and not in three months as previously predicted.
“Follow-up examinations of Erik's injury showed that it was more complicated than we initially feared. We expect Erik to need up to six months of rehabilitation before he returns to play," MFF writes on their website.
Botheim was carried out on a stretcher in the away match against IFK Värnamo (2–2) on 15 May. After that, a fracture was diagnosed and he was operated on. The Allsvenskan season ends in November.
