Malmö FF, who have won the men's football top division four out of the last five seasons, have only managed to pick up nine points out of 21 under the last seven matches in the top division, and are falling further and further behind the top struggle.
And after 2–2 against the table bottom Värnamo, with new coach Arne Sandstø at the helm, it's not going to get more cheerful at the Skåne team. Moreover, star player Erik Botheim had to leave the match.
Twice Malmö took the lead. But Värnamo, who took their second point of the season, responded twice. The home team's Frank Junior Adjei scored the match's last goal with ten minutes left to play.
Taha Ali got a chance to send all three points to Skåne just at the end, but missed from close range.
We dominate and have the biggest chances, but it's also so that Värnamo gets clear opportunities from what they have. They don't push down and establish, but we invite... Or invite is such a damn cliché, but it's not good enough from our side in keeping them away from clear chances, says Malmö FF's coach Henrik Rydström to Max.
After nine played matches, Malmö is now six points behind AIK, who still lead the top division.
In parallel, Mjällby took a new important win, when they defeated Djurgården 3–1 away.
Mjällby lies second in the top division, one point behind AIK.
