Malmö made a dream start away to Ajax.
After just 83 seconds, Izzy D'Aquila scored. Tuva Skoog made a deep run and played the ball to the American striker, who made no mistake and sent it into the roof of the net.
Skoog also got on the scoresheet. Just over an hour into the match, she extended MFF's lead to 2–0.
Ajax managed to pull one back, but got no closer. The match ended 2–1 to Malmö FF, giving them a good starting position for the return leg and taking a big step towards the quarter-finals.
Hammarby did likewise, winning their first-leg round-of-16 tie 3-1 away against Slovakia’s Spartak Myjava.
