The seventh of May 2022, Malmö won against Mjällby with 2–0. Since then, it has gone worse for the sky blues when the teams clashed.

But now, 876 days later, MFF managed to get Mjällby on the fall again.

Malmö made several changes from the loss against Rangers in the Europa League earlier in the week. One of those who got the chance from the start was Sören Rieks. And it was also he who scored 1–0, when he unexpectedly headed in the leading goal in the 20th minute.

Fantastic. It's been a long time since I scored a headed goal, so we'll take that. But it's of course important to score the first goal in a match like this, says Rieks to Max about the goal.

The 2–0 goal was scored by a somewhat more notorious goal scorer. Isaac Kiese Thelin went up in solo goal scoring lead, when he scored his 15th goal for the season after a little over half an hour.

The second half contained no goals, and the match ended 2–0 and Malmö took home another three points.

Nice, of course. We've felt that we haven't played good matches against them before, so we said we had to put our foot down today. I think we did that in the first half, and then the match is over, says Isaac Kiese Thelin to Max.

Thus, Malmö leads with ten points down to Djurgården, who earlier on Sunday dropped points against Värnamo. And with only 15 points left to play for, it means that Malmö can secure the gold as early as next Sunday with a win against Värnamo, if the other results in the round go MFF's way.
