No Swede had done it before – won a gold in wrestling's U23 World Championship.
Jonna Malmgren made history in Tirana. She won the final against Mexican Zeltzin Hernandez Guerra on technical superiority.
Malmgren previously won the U23 European Championship gold this year and later silver in the European Championship. In the Olympic Games in Paris, it went heavier and she was not close to fighting for the medals.
A fine end to the championship year was waiting anyway.
She did a bit as she wanted against Hernandez Guerra in the 55-kilo class. After 10–0, the match was over and Malmgren could celebrate her and Swedish wrestling's first gold in a U23 World Championship.
