The government is watching with great concern what is now happening with the broken ceasefire, many dead tonight and the risk of it escalating completely once again, says Kristersson in the EU Committee.
The Social Democrats, the Left Party and the Green Party want Sweden to condemn Israel's actions. Kristersson is not willing to go that far.
The government views this seriously and urges both parties to do what is right and proper, he says to TT.
This means, according to Kristersson, that the ceasefire is respected and that Hamas releases the Israelis who have been taken as hostages.
The Social Democrats' member of the EU Committee, Matilda Ernkrans, thinks that Kristersson must take a stronger stance.
Condemn Netanyahu's government. The Prime Minister says he is worried and that is a very weakly expressed sentiment, for this is a situation that risks escalating.
The Social Democrats, the Left Party and the Green Party also want the EU to pause its association agreement with Israel. The Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson also writes on X that "the international community must intervene to immediately restore the ceasefire".
To intervene – that is easier said than done. That is something everyone who has followed this conflict knows, says Ulf Kristersson.
We do best to keep a strong pressure on the two parties involved.
