The 37-year-old midfielder did not get to come on in Saturday's 1–2 loss to Real Madrid. After the match, he expressed his displeasure on Instagram that new acquisition Jan Virgili got playing time instead -
"I hope Jan succeeds here and that we can all help him, but something like this sends a terrible signal to the locker room - that work, commitment and loyalty do not matter," Rodríguez wrote in a post that is now gone.
Mallorca also chose to terminate Rodríguez's contract with immediate effect
Rodríguez has played for Mallorca since 2018 and made over 250 matches for the club.
