For the past two and a half years, the train operator Mälartåg has paid out 53 million kronor in compensation to its passengers due to delays, reports P4 Sörmland and P4 Örebro.
Brita Lundkvist, communications manager at Mälardalstrafik, points out that approximately twelve million journeys per year are made with Mälartåg.
But it is clear that this is a significant amount, she continues.
During the two and a half years, the company has received approximately half a million applications for compensation for delays, and between 85 and 90 percent of them are approved each month.
The company manages train traffic in Stockholm, Södermanland, Västmanland, Uppsala, Örebro and Östergötland counties.
