One hundred years after her death, the life and work of author, educator and women's rights activist Ellen Key is being transformed into performing arts. "Ellen Key must be stopped!" will premiere at Tensta konsthall on May 8.

"She appears everywhere. There are so many people who were inspired by her. Where did she get her fuel from?" asks Catti Brandelius, who wrote the script and music together with Anneli Jordahl, in a press release.

With the performance, the duo wants to rekindle interest in the once world-famous Ellen Key (1849–1926) – “like the grandmother of the public home” – just in time for the anniversary year of 2026.

The performance is partly based on Jordahl's book "I Should Be Your Dog (If Only I Were Near You)" from 2009, and is described as a wild and poetic performance with "music and show".
