The police were called to the scene at 4:30 p.m. Robert Sennerdal, a police spokesman, says they are investigating whether a crime has been committed.
There was information that gave us reason to initiate an investigation, and we started it at one location in Värmdö municipality, Sennerdal tells TT.
Both helicopters and naval police are taking part in the operation. There is no road connection to the mainland.
"There are personnel on site working on this matter," says Sennerdal.
Information passed to both Aftonbladet and TV4 says it concerns a woman who was found injured. According to TV4, she suffered knife injuries.
The police do not comment on the media reports.
