The site Archetyp was one of the two largest marketplaces for narcotics on the Darknet, with over 600,000 users. Now it has been closed in an international police operation.
A man who was a moderator and responsible for the operation of the site has been arrested by Swedish police. Several of the largest sellers on the site have been Swedes – 73 Swedish sellers were active when the raid was made. The police expect more arrests.
"As the sellers have reached out to buyers all over the world, Sweden has also become an export country for narcotics", says Steffen Oxenvad, group manager for complex cybercrime at the police's National Operational Department Noa, in a press release.
At least 250 million euro has been turned over on the site. According to Oxenvad, it has contributed to the violence-driven organized crime in Sweden.
