Maja Stark began the summer by winning her first major title in the US Open.
But after that, it has been tough for the 25-year-old Skåne native. In seven tournaments after the triumph at Erin Hills, Stark has missed the qualifying limit five times – and at best finished 47th.
Therefore, the trend break in Ohio was welcome. Stark finished 15 strokes under par in total, five behind the English winner Charley Hull.
Hull could snatch the victory one stroke ahead of the Thai world number one Jeeno Thitikul, who squandered her lead when she four-putted on the 72nd and final hole.
Maja Stark was rewarded with around half a million kronor for her fifth place. She competes again already this week, in Arkansas.
