It didn't become a successful Swedish week in this year's first major tournament, Chevron Championship, on the women's side. More fun was had by Japanese Mao Saigo – who won after a dramatic playoff.

I did my best to calm down and made it, said Saigo to reporters after successfully making the final putt and taking home the title.

The 23-year-old from Funabashi was tied with four other players after the fourth round, all finishing at a total of –7. But after the others failed – including Ariya Jutanugarn from Thailand, who made a bogey after a frustrating miss – the Japanese player could lift the trophy.

Among the eight Swedish players, none had a particularly successful week at The Woodlands in Texas. Three of them (Madelene Sagström, Linn Grant, and Linnea Ström) missed the cut, while the five others got to play on over the weekend, albeit far behind the leaders.

The best Swedish player in the end was Maja Stark, who finished four over par, which earned her a tied 44th place, one stroke ahead of Ingrid Lindblad, who was the next best in the Swedish competition.

Further down the results list, Anna Nordqvist finished at +6, Frida Kinhult at +12, and Pernilla Lindberg at +15.
