Maja Stark and Linn Grant have been impressive so far in the Solheim Cup at Bernardus Golf. Friday's foursomes victory was followed by another on Saturday morning - and this triumph rang even louder.
Because it was world number one Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz who were defeated 3/2, after being overwhelmed at times by the Swedes.
Linn Grant enjoyed running roughshod over the Americans.
We had a few times when it's just so good to smash it up. I don't know how to explain it, but when Maja puts the chip on the eight and then they pull a cup spin to split the nine. Then you just feel like "now we have it". And then it feels extra good when it's the world number one, says the 27-year-old.
Eagle gave the upper hand
The aforementioned chip on the eighth was long and meant eagle for the Swedes, who then went three up in the match. Korda's "horseshoe" around the hole on the ninth gave Stark and Grant a four-hole lead already halfway through the match, just like yesterday against Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho.
The Swedes were already five under par at that point and, after 32 holes played, still have not made a single bogey in this year's Solheim Cup. An incredible result.
Meanwhile, Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz entered the match against the Swedes as a historically sharp Solheim Cup combo. When the duo won their foursome on Friday, it meant they had won five matches out of five - a feat no one else has managed in the competition's 36-year history.
But then two big-game, laughing Swedes came along and put an end to that run.
I don't think we really had any idea about those statistics, but it's really fun to hear that - that you get to crush people who are good at match play, says Maja Stark.
The fact that Corpuz and Korda, who by no means played badly, came back by winning holes 10 and 11 couldn't shake the Skåne duo either. When Corpuz hit the water on the 16th, a chance to decide the match opened up. And Stark, who had barely missed a makeable putt in the first few days, finished in style by rolling in another birdie.
I wasn't even nervous on the first tee today, it just felt like it was going to be fun, says Stark.
"Such a great atmosphere in the team, everyone clicks really well. Best Solheim so far," says Grant.
In addition to Stark and Grant, Europe's other successful pair - debutants Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud - also won their foursome on Saturday.
Things are going harder for stars like Charley Hull and Lottie Woad, who had already lost after 13 holes to Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin.
Europe leads 6-5 against the USA with a foursomes match still in progress.
