Maria Sid directs the classic rock musical, which will premiere on October 9, 2026. In addition to Magnus Uggla as Herod, other roles include Alexander Lycke (Jesus), Fredrik Lycke (Judas) and Marsha Songcome (Mary Magdalene).
The musical depicts the last days of Jesus' life.
"For me, this work is about how we all relate to power and how it relates to us," says Maria Sid in a press release.
“Jesus Christ Superstar” was created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The musical first appeared as a concept album in 1970 before being staged on Broadway in 1971.
