The discovery was made at lunchtime on Saturday. The national bomb squad was called in and took the grenade with them to examine it closer.
It was assessed as live and has been neutralized by the national bomb squad, says the police's press spokesperson Filip Annas.
The police have filed a report on a crime against the law on flammable and explosive goods.
