The American director was recently in theaters with "The Bride!", a reinterpretation of "The Bride of Frankenstein." Five years ago, Maggie Gyllenhaal's film "The Lost Daughter" had its world premiere in Venice.
This year's festival will be held from September 2 to 12. The films to be shown at the festival will be announced on July 23.
