"The National Assembly has received his resignation from the post of State Prosecutor, signed by Tarek William Saab," the Venezuelan parliament announced on Wednesday, almost two months after Maduro was abducted by the US military.
Saab was part of Maduro's inner circle in the authoritarian regime and was often the one who both expressed threats and carried them out against people he disliked. The EU has imposed sanctions on Saab for human rights violations.
Immediately after the announcement, the National Assembly appointed Saab to an interim position to represent the public.
