The move comes after Trump opened up for talks with Maduro, as tensions between the countries continued to rise.
At the same time, the Venezuelan president says that a military attack on the country would mean Trump's "political downfall."
Several US warships are in the waters of the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela, and the US has recently carried out several deadly attacks on what it accuses of being drug-smuggling boats from Venezuela, among others. According to the US, the Maduro regime is responsible for the smuggling.
