On Madonna's official Instagram account, she and Elton John are seen embracing each other in a form of reconciliation. "Finally, we've buried the hatchet!", it reads.

Madonna writes further that she, in connection with seeing Elton John perform on "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend, went into his dressing room and confronted him. Elton John allegedly immediately fell to his knees and said: "Forgive me."

The feud – which, to be honest, has been quite one-sided from Elton John's side – began in 2002, reports Billboard. This was when Madonna's "Die Another Day" for the James Bond film of the same name was called "the worst Bond song ever". In 2004, the next attack came from the Brit's side when he commented on the fact that Madonna had been awarded the prize for best live artist at a gala with the comment:

Madonna, best live artist? Hell no. Since when is it live to lip sync?

Elton John is also said to have said that Madonna "looks like a fairground stripper".

Madonna writes on Instagram that Elton John's comments over the years have taken extra hard because he was a role model.

With that said, it should be mentioned that the world stars are reported to have reconciled once before – at a restaurant in France in 2013.
