League leaders Sirius fell to a 2-1 home defeat to AIK on Saturday, opening the way for Djurgården and Hammarby to close in on the Uppsala side.

However, Djurgården drew 2-2 at home with runners-up Örgryte after extra time and took just one point.

The title race is "alive"

Things went better for Hammarby on Sunday in Blekinge. With a 2-0 win over reigning champions Mjällby, “Bajen” are now second in the table with 49 points, six behind Sirius with five rounds remaining.

It is alive, says Montader Madjed about the title race.

On Thursday, the gap could narrow further when Hammarby and Sirius meet at Arena 3 in Stockholm.

"It's perfect now to have them at home. If we win there, it's only three points," says Madjed.

Sirius are good, so we have to show our best side, coach Henrik Rydström tells TV4.

Madjed became the hero against Mjällby. In the 69th minute, the 21-year-old crossed the ball into the penalty area and sent it with his left foot into the net, off the crossbar, past goalkeeper Alexander Lundin.

It was his sixth goal of the season, but his first in several months.

"I've been waiting a long time. It was really nice. You have to save the nice goals until the end," he says.

In the 89th minute, Oscar Johansson Schellhas made it 2-0.

It was a difficult match. They made it difficult for us. It was really nice, says Montader Madjed.

Mjällby in trouble

For last year's successful club Mjällby, the situation is completely different. The Blekinge side have not won in nine straight Allsvenskan matches, losing six of them.

Mjällby have 23 points and are three points behind Degerfors, who occupy the relegation play-off place. Two crucial matches await them next - against bottom side Kalmar (22 points) and second-bottom Örgryte (19).
