Russia has rejected calls for an immediate ceasefire and continued to bomb Ukraine while diplomatic efforts are underway to put an end to the war.
European countries are, according to Macron, prepared to introduce new sanctions against Russia if the country does not agree to a ceasefire, but the US President Donald Trump's government has not confirmed that it will go the same way.
Macron is on site in Singapore where he will participate in the Shangri-La Dialogue international defence conference, which opens on Friday.
