The US has not stopped "threats" and "intimidation," Macron says in an interview with European media ahead of this week's EU summit.
"And then, suddenly, Washington backs down. And we think it's over. But don't believe it for a second. Every day there are threats to pharmaceuticals, digital technology..." he says in the interview.
Macron wants to see a simplification and deepening of the EU's internal market and urges Europe not to bow down or to compromise.
"We have been trying this strategy for months, and it is not working. But above all, strategically it leads to Europe increasing its dependence."
