To recognize a Palestinian state is just to decide to say: "The Palestinian people's legitimate perspective and their suffering have nothing to do with Hamas", said the president in an interview with Israeli Keshet 12.
France and several other countries announced earlier this year the decision to recognize a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly now in September.
The goal of the recognition is to enable a two-state solution in the area without Hamas involvement. The proposal has been rejected by Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
This is the last chance before a two-state solution becomes completely impossible, said Macron.
