Recognizing a Palestinian state is just deciding to say: "The legitimate perspective of the Palestinian people and their suffering have nothing to do with Hamas", said the president in an interview with Israeli Channel 12.
France and several other countries announced earlier this year the decision to recognize a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly later in September.
The goal of the recognition is to enable a two-state solution without Hamas involvement. The proposal has been rejected by Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
This is the last chance before a two-state solution becomes completely impossible, said Macron.
