All those who have been of the opinion that one can save a country from itself by allowing external forces to bomb it have always been mistaken, says Macron to reporters at the G7 meeting in Canada.
Macron also urges Israel and Iran to stop attacking civilians. The statement came after US President Donald Trump announced that he is leaving Canada "for important reasons".
If the US has the opportunity to arrange a ceasefire, it would be highly desirable, says Macron.
But Trump dismisses that he is traveling home to work on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Macron is just seeking attention, claims Trump.
"Wrong! He has no idea why I'm on my way to Washington, but it definitely has nothing to do with a ceasefire", he writes on Truth Social.
"Much bigger than that. Emmanuel always misunderstands everything, whether intentionally or not. To be continued!"
