The initiative is being taken in light of the fact that fuel prices have risen sharply since the US and Israel's war against Iran began on February 28.
"In the coming weeks, we will hold a G7 meeting dedicated to energy issues, to strengthen cooperation and avoid unnecessary tensions between the G7 countries," Macron said on Friday.
He added that the meeting will also be an opportunity to discuss the possible “release or unlocking” of strategic reserves.
