Macron delivered his appeal in a phone call with Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun, announced his presidential office.
According to the ceasefire agreement, Israeli forces are to leave Lebanon by Sunday at the latest, but on Friday, Israel announced that this would not happen. Instead, Israel placed the responsibility on the Lebanese government and accused them of not fulfilling their commitments fully.
Lebanon, on the other hand, accuses Israel of delaying the ceasefire.
"There has been a delay in several steps as a result of the delay in the withdrawal by the Israeli enemy side", said the Lebanese army in a statement on Saturday.
The Lebanese army is ready to continue its deployment as soon as Israel withdraws, the statement further reads.
In the November agreement, the parties agreed on a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, two months after a full-scale war in which Israeli forces advanced into southern Lebanon. As part of the agreement, it is up to Lebanon's regular but relatively weak army to deploy forces in the south, where they are to maintain peace together with international UN forces.
Hezbollah, in turn, is to withdraw northwards, north of the Litani River and further away from Israel.
