Macron writes in a statement on X that a return to the full freedom of navigation in the strait, which prevailed before the conflict, is necessary.
The French president condemns the attacks on several ships and civilian infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates.
Macron also mentions that the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, which is moving south of the Suez Canal on Wednesday, is part of French and British efforts to restore confidence among shipping companies and insurers.
"A return to calm in the Strait will contribute to deepening negotiations on nuclear energy issues, ballistic missiles and the regional situation," Macron continues.
