During this weekend's concert at MetLife Stadium, Macklemore said "Free Palestine."
"I want the words to be heard loud and clear, so that people from Gaza all the way to the occupied West Bank know that we have not forgotten them," Macklemore said from the stage, also playing his pro-Palestinian song "Hind's Hall."
An Israeli-American organization started a petition to have Macklemore removed from Ed Sheeran's remaining US shows. Singer Pink also shared a post critical of Macklemore from the account StopAntisemitism.
Macklemore responded on Monday via his Instagram with the text: "Wanting all people to be treated equally should never be controversial."
