The 650-passenger ship Villa Vie Odyssey has been on a round-the-world voyage since 2024. For up to $11,000 (just over 100,000 Swedish kronor) per month, the ship has become a permanent home as it visits hundreds of destinations.
However, rising energy prices linked to the war in Iran have put the American cruise company Villa Vie Residences in a very difficult financial position, and the company will now undergo financial restructuring, several media outlets report.
The ship has therefore had to dock in the Cambodian port city of Sihanoukville, where its 200 passengers now have to wait and see what happens next.
