A VMA, important message to the public, was sent out to the public in Luleå municipality on Thursday afternoon. This was due to a fire in a parking garage in Kallkällan, with significant smoke development as a result.
At around 20:00, it was announced that the VMA had been lifted. Incident commander Patrik Lindfors tells local media that between 80 and 90 cars may have been destroyed in the fire.
The police report on their website that it is unclear how the fire started. Due to the "large economic values", the police have initiated a preliminary investigation into arson. No suspects are currently identified.
