After 214 international matches for the Swedish women's national team, seven World Cup tournaments, two Olympics and seven Swedish Championship gold medals, the physical defender is retiring after a 20-year career.
"I'm a 'try-hard player.' I say that with pride. Damn, how focused I've been. It's only now that I really get it," she says.
Fällman says a decisive factor in the decision was a shoulder injury last year that took strength and willpower to recover from.
Johanna Fällman won six Swedish Championship gold medals with Luleå and one with Modo, and played one season in the PWHL, the women's professional league, with the New York Sirens.
She will continue to work with Luleå Hockey.
