Luleå and Frölunda met in the very first CHL final. Now they meet again, eleven years later.

Luleå won the first final of the Champions Hockey League 2025 with 4–2.

Since then, Frölunda has been in four more finals, winning all of them. Luleå has been in one more.

They will meet in this year's final on March 3 after winning their semi-finals.

Luleå defeated Swiss Zug 6–4 on aggregate (3–2, 3–2). For the away game, the SHL team was forced to buy new sticks in Zug because their sticks had disappeared on a plane. They still won 3–2. In the home game on Tuesday, Luleå took a 3–0 lead after five minutes of the second period. Zug then reduced the deficit twice, but never came closer than that.

Frölunda made it to the final with a 2–0 away win and then a 2–2 home draw against Brynäs. Isac Heens scored both of Frölunda's goals.
