Ahead of the upcoming elections in Brazil, Lula da Silva also warned of "enemies of democracy" whom he says are threatening the election and the election results.
"We have a modern and robust electoral system, monitored by a pluralistic population and free media. We will not allow the enemies of democracy, whether they come from within or from abroad, to undermine the election," he said.
Lula also said that the UN has failed “in one of its most important missions”: to free humanity from the scourge of war.
Its credibility has never been lower, and its ability to protect the most vulnerable has never been lower, he said, specifically singling out the Security Council.
