Russian oil company Lukoil is selling its international assets. The sale is a response to the sanctions against Russia recently announced from the USA.

Negotiations with potential buyers have already been initiated, according to Lukoil, which has shares in oil and gas projects in eleven countries.

US President Donald Trump announced new sanctions against Lukoil and Rosneft on October 22, which makes it difficult for the companies to do business outside of Russia. The sanctions are an attempt to pressure Russia to enter into a ceasefire with Ukraine.

Lukoil and Rosneft are Russia's largest oil companies and account for approximately half of Russia's oil exports.
