Lukashenko says Ukraine war will end within months, warns of world war risk

Belarusian leader Aleksandr Lukashenko claims the war in Ukraine will be over within a few months.

The statement came during a security conference in Minsk, according to the state-run Belarusian news agency Belta.

“The war in Ukraine will be over in a few months. That is my personal opinion. Everyone is exhausted, there are no resources left, everyone is tired,” Lukashenko said.

The president also claimed that peace could have been achieved as early as 2022 and blamed Western countries for the opportunity being “lost”.

Lukashenko also warned of the consequences if the war continues.

“If we do not stop this and continue on the path of escalation, we will certainly end up in a third world war.”
