"My goal is to contribute to the club growing in a positive way and to help build an exciting future", says Luka Modric in a statement on Swansea's website.
The 39-year-old veteran midfielder is one of both Real Madrid's and Croatia's most successful players of all time. He has, among other things, won the Champions League six times, the Spanish league four times, and was part of the team that took the World Championship silver in Russia in 2018. Later that year, Modric was awarded the prize as the world's best player on the men's side, the Golden Ball, Ballon d'Or.
Swansea plays in the English league football and is a mid-table team in the second division Championship. The team was relegated from the Premier League in the 2017-2018 season.
