Last season, the competition was played at Torrey Pines due to the severe fires in Pacific Palisades. Åberg won then.
This year, the players were back at The Riviera Country Club, where Olympic golf will be decided in 2028.
The Swede finished the final round at five under par and ended with a total of -9, in a tie for 20th place.
Åberg has had a tough start to the season, partly due to stomach problems for which he has sought treatment. At a press conference ahead of The Genesis Invitational, he said he was starting to feel better.
This was the Scanian's best of the four competitions he has played so far this year. Alex Norén also tied for twelfth with a total of -11.
The winner was Jacob Bridgeman. The American was one over par in the final round but finished with a total of -18, one stroke ahead of compatriot Kurt Kitayama and Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy.
