After two days of play, Åberg is seven under par after shooting five under on Friday. The Swede made a total of seven birdies.
Åberg got off to a perfect start to the day with three straight birdies. The only blemish of the round came on the 11th hole, a par three, where his ball bounced into the water and he recorded a double bogey.
Åberg is still waiting for his first win of the season. He now has a good starting position for this weekend's decider.
The competition's other Swede, Alex Norén, is three under par overall after two days of play, in a shared 19th place.
