During Friday's round of the DP Tour competition at the Renaissance Club in eastern Scotland, Åberg was cold off the tee and hovered around the qualifying mark, which is estimated to be -1 or -2.
With birdies on his 16th and 17th holes, followed by a bogey on the last, he finished at one over par (71 strokes) and a total of –1.
"I had too little control over where the ball was going. I played with both a left and a right miss," Åberg tells Viaplay.
We'll see if we can continue playing, but I doubt it.
One who failed to make the cut was world number one Scottie Scheffler, who finished on par.
Swedes Mikael Lindberg (–1), Alex Norén (–1) and Jesper Svensson (par) are out on the course, while Joakim Lagergren (+1) is done and will miss this weekend's action.
Next week, the year's last major, the British Open, will be played at Royal Birkdale.
