Åberg managed to play six holes in the third round on Saturday – and took two strokes off leader Robert MacIntyre – before play was suspended due to bad weather.
After the PGA Tour's Texas Open outside San Antonio resumed following an overnight suspension, the 26-year-old kept his composure and finished the third round tied for second at -13 overall, one stroke behind MacIntyre.
The fourth round is already underway for some players. For Åberg, about an hour of rest awaits before he heads out again to play the final 18 holes of the fourth round.
Alex Norén is tied for 36th at -6 overall.
