Lucas Raymond spiced up Detroit's win

It was 3-2 and the win was already secured – but Detroit's point machine Lucas Raymond couldn't hold back, and spiced up the result with an extra goal in the final seconds to 4-2.

The goal was the Swede's twelfth so far this season. After chaotic play near their own goal, and a save by goalie Ville Husso, teammate Dylan Larkin managed to get the puck loose. He pushed it over to Lucas Raymond, who slung it into the opponent's empty net.

It's a huge win for us, says Detroit coach Derek Lalonde to reporters after the game.

They played their best game today.

Toronto's star player William Nylander contributed with an assist for the away team, which at one point seemed to score another goal before it was disallowed for offside.

I think we created many offensive opportunities, but they blocked a lot of our shots, says Toronto's Mitch Marner, who was responsible for the disallowed goal.

The atmosphere in Little Caesars Arena in Detroit was at least intense, notes the home team's goalie Ville Husso.

The crowd on both sides was completely electric tonight. It felt like the battle was going on both on and off the ice.
