Good Friday will be sunny in the northern part of the country, but in Svealand and northeastern Götaland you will already get a taste of what awaits during the rest of Easter: mixed precipitation - sleet and rain.

The rain and snowfall area moves away during the day, but a new low-pressure system moves in during the evening over the west coast and brings rain. When it reaches Svealand it may turn into snow. SMHI has issued a yellow warning for snowfall in large parts of Värmland from midnight on Easter Eve until 12 noon.

"Travel times may be longer due to slippery conditions, poor visibility and sleet. Allow more time for your journey and adjust your speed to road conditions and visibility," warns SMHI.

Deep low pressure

Low pressure will move north on Easter Eve and it may become a little windy. In the south, the rain will move away and will also be followed by winds with fresh to strong gusts.

But it looks like the sun may appear, at least in the afternoon, in quite a few places in Götaland and western Svealand.

On Easter Sunday, the deep low-pressure system Dave - named by the British Met Office - is expected to move in from the west.

It looks like it could actually be quite windy on Sunday.

In Götaland, Dave will bring rain, while it will once again turn into snow from Värmland northwards. There is a risk of storms over parts of Götaland.

Northern winds

Belking does not rule out that more warnings will be issued during the Easter weekend, partly for larger amounts of snow and partly for strong winds.

The deep low pressure will move away during Easter Monday and looking towards the middle of next week, the weather looks set to become high pressure-driven.

However, it will not be that warm, but there will be northerly winds, says Belking.
