Total sales during the Black Friday sale day decreased this year compared to last year and the number of transactions also decreased by 16.8 percent compared to last year.

However, consumers spent more on each purchase, according to a survey from price comparison site Prisjakt and Svea Bank. The average order this year was 16.2 percent more expensive than last year.

Magdalena Caesar, business area manager for payment solutions at Svea Bank, says in a press release that there is a clear pattern where Black Friday is losing intensity but sales for the entire month are increasing at the same time.

“There are many indications that trade is now more widespread and that campaign periods start earlier,” says Magdalena Caesar.
